Volunteers help build two homes during World Habitat Week

Holy Family Knights of Columbus Council #9088 and Catholic Daughters of America Court #2665 volunteers put up siding Saturday on a Golden Crescent Habitat for Humanity home. The 29 volunteers were on the Habitat job site as part of World Habitat Week, a time declared by the United Nations General Assembly to recognize the basic need for adequate shelter around the world.

Holy Family Catholic Church members volunteer on every local house Habitat builds. In 2014, they already have volunteered more than 550 hours, a value of more than $12,400, according to the Independent Sector’s 2014 published average amount for a volunteer hour.
